According to Webster, economics is a science concerned chiefly with description and analysis of the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services. Economics in its modern sense is conventionally dated from the publication of Adam Smith's The Wealth of Nations in 1776.
Economics is usually divided into two main branches, microeconomics and macroeconomics. Microeconomics deals with individual agents, such as households and businesses, while macroeconomics considers the economy as a whole. Economic logic is increasingly applied to any problem that involves choice under scarcity or determining economic value.
